Joseph Carr created Josh Cellars in 2007 as a tribute to his dad, Josh – Joseph’s way of honoring all that his father had done for him.
Josh was a lumberjack by trade who also served in the U.S. Army and volunteered as a local firefighter. He worked hard, and instilled values of dedication & perseverance in his children, Joseph and his twin sister, Lisa.
These values drove Joseph to create Josh Cellars. Hard work and a commitment to quality ensure that all Josh Cellars wines represent the best of California: they’re well-balanced, delicious and crafted to exacting standards.
Today, Josh Cellars has 11 varietals and a Reserve collection of wines that come from some of California’s most prestigious appellations, the North Coast and Paso Robles. Every vintage represents a labor of love, a commitment to quality, and a very personal promise to make great wine, in honor of Joseph’s father, Josh.
Wayne Donaldson has been a leader in the international wine industry for nearly three decades. He took over winemaking for Josh Cellars in 2009, and has achieved 90+ scores on a variety of Josh Cellars wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and the North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon and Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon from the Reserve portfolio.
From supporting volunteer firefighters to restaurant industry rights, Josh Cellars is committed to giving back to causes that reflect our values.

Visit SiteThe restaurant industry is where Joseph Carr got his start, and we believe that ensuring it’s a positive place for growth is vital for individuals just starting to build work experience. The RWCF supports restaurant workers across the country by addressing quality-of-life issues that disproportionately affect them, like wage fairness, career ladders, gender equity, sexual violence, racial justice, mental health, substance abuse, and support for the immigrant community.
Visit SiteCalifornia wines inspired Joseph Carr to create his own brands and, today, most of our wines are produced in California: it is truly the brand’s home. We are proud to support the California Fire Foundation, an organization working tirelessly to provide emotional and financial assistance to families of firefighters and the communities they protect across the state. Joseph Carr’s grandfather and his father, Josh, were also volunteer firefighters in Berlin, NY, so this is a cause that is close to our business and hearts.
Visit SiteTrees for Troops provides free, farm-grown Christmas Trees to members of the U.S. armed forces in all branches of the military through donations, sponsorships, grants, and the work of many volunteers.
